I'm a sucker for anything with snowflakes on it. I've always loved snowflakes. It's only been since last year that I've learned to really enjoy the winters. You'd think that spending almost my entire life (except for the 4 1/2 years I lived in PA back in the 90s) that I would be a winter-lover, but that's only happened since last year. I was always scared of the cold and the long days of blinding white fluffy stuff. Up here in northern Vermont, snow comes as early as October sometimes and can stay through late April to May. It lasts a LONG time. Now, I enjoy staying warm and cozy in my craft studio while it's snowing outside, with a hot cup of chai and a blizzard raging outside. It makes everything so white and quiet out there.
I may not have enjoyed winter until last year, but I've always loved the intricate and sparkling detail of snowflakes. Of course, any time Stampin' Up comes out with a snowflake set or ANYTHING to do with snowflakes, for that matter, it's something I have to have. As you can imagine, with the long winters here in Vermont, I always have plenty of pictures to scrapbook of winter time activities so snowflake ANYTHING from Stampin' UP comes in handy for all sorts of projects.
I was inspired by another demo (thanks, Tana Conley!) to create this card using the Northern Flurry embossing folder and the Serene Snowflakes set. I stamped a bunch of snowflakes from the Serene Snowflakes set on Whisper White cardstock with Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery and River Rock inks. I then ran the cardstock through the Big Shot with the Northern Flurry embossing folder. I layered it on top of Baja Breeze cardstock and wrapped a piece of red gingham ribbon around it.
I love the texture of the dry embossed snowflakes behind the colorful stamped snowflakes.
I stamped the "Holiday Greetings," from the Sincere Salutations set, using black ink. This was then mounted on a piece of Riding Hood Red cardstock as my card base.
It's always fun to do a holiday card with another pop of color in there if you're using red and green.
Happy Crafting!

Hey, Thanks Erika, I'm speechless! :) I'm so glad that I could give you inspiration! I love the colors of your card. I'm going to have to give that one a try for myself. Thanks again. Many Blessings-Tana http://www.tanaconley.blogspot.com
