We go apple picking every year. I always bring my camera and take pictures. It's fun to look at them and compare them year by year to see how much the kids have grown.
One of the things my kids love to do is climb the apple trees. They look forward to this almost more than picking the apples or the warm apple cider donuts we buy at the orchard farm stand. The kids know that I'm going to take their pictures up in the trees, so they usually "perform" for me and pose for the camera.
This picture was taken last year at the orchard and I've been wanting to scrapbook it for a while. I've been trying to decide what sorts of papers and embellishments to use for this picture and when I was looking through my new Kitchen Sink Stamps that Maria sent me to work with this month, I knew I'd found my answer!
I used the new 3-Step School Days set to create my apple embellishments and I also used one of the apples as part of my title.
I inked around the green and pink cardstock with my Whisper White craft pad. I mounted my photo on Kraft cardstock and then used photo corner mounts on the corners. Both the white and green rub-ons that I used on the pink and green cardstock were left over from this past Stampin' Up Sale-a-bration.
The title was stamped using Kitchen Sink Stamp's new 1/2 Pint Playful Alphabet Buddy set. One of the coolest things about this set (besides the super convenient size) is that there are multiples of most of the letters. I was able to spell the words out on my acrylic block before inking them up, rather than having to stamp one letter at a time. The word, "eye," was spelled out completely on my block because this set has two letter e's. LOVE that feature! (Psssst.....there's also a companion set called 1/2 Pint Playful Alphabet that has an open center with funky designs in them that you can use as is or layered over the solid Buddy set). I used Mellow Moss craft ink to stamp the title.
I stamped the apples on Very Vanilla cardstock. Here's the list of inks I used for each step:
Step 1: Cameo Coral (stamped off onto scrap paper once)
Step 2: Cameo Coral (fully inked)
Step 3: Ruby Red (stamped off onto scrap paper once)
Step 4: Ruby Red (fully inked)
For the leaves, I stamped first with Always Artichoke stamped off onto scrap paper once and then stamped on top of that with fully inked Always Artichoke. I cut the apples out and then mounted them on green cardstock and trimmed around them, leaving a small border of cardstock poking out. I mounted these on my layout (both at the bottom and in my title) with pop-dots for some added dimension.
The journaling that I used for this page are words that were part of the white rub-ons. They were so perfect for how I felt about this picture.
Happy Creating!

I love this layout! I'm an SU demo from Australia and I've just joined your Soulology course. I can't wait. I started cardmaking and stamping 15 years ago and scrapbooking 4 years ago. I was a CM consultant for 3 years but chose to switch to SU in May this year. Since then my scrapbooking has stagnated. Hopefully this course can get me back on track and give me inspiration. Thanks so much for providing this course online - it means that we "Down Under" can participate.

I love all the rub-ons you used! I forget I have them to use on my layouts (I never use them on cards). I'm leaving in an hour for the weekend but when I get back I plan on scrapbooking - you've inspired me to bring my rub-ons out and go nuts with them! Thank you!
