Lately, I've been really digging this color scheme....those muted reds and greens with icy blues. It's a nice twist on the traditional holiday colors and even when it's NOT used for holiday cards, it's a very catching color combo.
I've also been digging using strips of patterned paper on my cards, as well.
For this card, I used the new 1/2 Pint Playful Alphabet set from Kitchen Sink Stamps. I also pulled out the Snow Flurry set and paired that up with the alphabet. Oh, I'm lovin' it!
By the way, the snowflake that I used as my stamped focal point is actually the letter "o" from the letters that spell out "joy" from the Snow Flurry set. You wouldn't know it was supposed to be used as a letter by looking at it here on this card.....which just proves it's versatility.
The patterned paper strips are from the Holiday Treasures Designer Series paper pack (Stampin' UP) and I cut them in 1 inch strips, then distressed one of the edges on each with my distressing tool from my Stampin' Up cutter kit. I love the contrast of clean lines with a little bit of grunge.
The "merry" was stamped using letters from the 1/2 Pint Playful Alphabet set and because there are multiples of the more popular letters, I was able to spell this out on my acrylic block to get them lined up and only ink and stamp once.
I wanted to add a little bit of sparkle to my snowflake (because I like ALL my snowflakes to sparkle.....it just makes them more real in my eyes) so I applied some glue with my 2-Way Glue Pen and dusted it with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.
I punched out the snowflake with a 1 1/4 inch circle punch and mounted it on a 1 3/8 inch punched blue cardstock circle and then mounted that on top of a white scalloped circle that I sponged around the edges with matching blue ink.
I added three little self-adhesive rhinestones in the bottom right corner to finish it all off.
Happy Creating!

First off I want to say excellent blog! I had a quick question which I'd like to ask if you don't mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there. I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Appreciate it!
