I know I just recently did a One Design - Multiple Cards post but when I started playing with the 3-Step Aloha set (from Kitchen Sink Stamps), I wanted to see how the same card design would look with different colors and images. I LOVE how these came out!
I really dig doing tone-on-tone stamping. I used the same technique for both cards. All you need to do this technique is stamp an image on the cardstock with the same color of ink as the cardstock. This gives it a subtle background pattern without visually overwhelming the card.
For the first card, I chose to use the small blossom image and used just the first step image for this in More Mustard ink on the same color cardstock. I tied a length of Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon around the card and secured it with a double knot. I used my paper piercing tool, mat and template to pierce three holes above and below the ribbon and secured mini vintage copper brads in the holes.
For my stamped focal point, I chose the pineapple and stamped it on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock cut at 3x3 inches. Here are the layers that I used for the images:
PINEAPPLE:
Step 1) Apricot Appeal
Step 2) More Mustard
Step 3) Close to Cocoa
LEAVES:
Step 1) Kiwi Kiss (stamped off once onto scrap paper first)
Step 2) Kiwi Kiss (fully inked)
The greeting also came from the 3-Step Aloha set and was stamped with Kiwi Kiss ink.
I mounted the focal image on top of Kiwi Kiss cardstock and mounted it on top of the card/ribbon with pop-dots.
For my second card, I used the exact same design and the exact same dimensions and even used the same stamp set, but just changed up the images and some of the colors.
I used the large leaf image from the Aloha set (the step 1 image) and used that as my tone-on-tone image on my Kiwi Kiss card base with Kiwi Kiss ink. I used the same Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon and vintage copper brads. When I think about it, there's a lot on this card that stayed the same as the first one, but it's amazing how completely different they look.
Here are the layers that I used for the images:
LEAVES:
Step 1) Kiwi Kiss (stamped off once onto scrap paper first)
Step 2) Kiwi Kiss (fully inked)
Step 3) Old Olive
FLOWERS:
Step 1) Apricot Appeal
Step 2) Cameo Coral
Step 3) Ruby Red
Step 4) Baroque Burgandy
The greeting is from the Aloha set and stamped with Baroque Burgandy ink.
Have a lovely evening!
Happy Creating!
