I'm loving Kiwi Kiss as a fall color and it's a great color to use with this cute little acorn stamp from the 3-Step Autumn Squirrel set from Kitchen Sink Stamps.
The fall colors are starting to peep out here in northern Vermont and there are a ton of acorns falling off the oak trees in my front yard. Girly has been collecting them, the little chipmunks have been collecting them and scurrying under my garage with them (I have NO idea where they're taking them under there) and even the puppy has been picking them up and chewing on them. When I was a kid, I used to think that I could gather enough and grind them up to make flour and cakes out of them! Shhhh.....my daughter now thinks that, too, and I haven't the heart to tell her how many it would actually take to do it. :)
Considering the time of year, I figured it was a good time to use these little cuties!
I'm all about the blues and greens right now. So many people are using the other fall shades (orange, brown, yellow, red) and I like to mix things up a bit. Plus, you all know how much I love my blues and greens.
I used Kiwi Kiss cardstock for the base and stamped it in the same color with the oak leaf image and used just the first step so that it created a solid image and a tone-on-tone effect.
The acorns were done in 3 steps. I know you all like when I share the colors I used since that can be a challenge to figure them out at times. Here's what I used for each of the steps:
Step 1: Creamy Caramel
Step 2: Kiwi Kiss (stamped off once onto scrap paper first)
Step 3: Kiwi Kiss (fully inked)
I layered the strip of acorns on Creamy Caramel cardstock and then on a strip of Kiwi Kiss patterned paper (from the Urban Garden Designers Series paper pack) and tore it along the bottom. This got layered onto Baja Breeze cardstock and then onto a piece of striped patterened paper (from the same Urban Garden paper pack).
I stamped the "nuts about you" greeting (also from the 3-Step Autumn Squirrel set) on Baja Breeze cardstock with Kiwi Kiss ink and punched it out with the Word Window punch (Stampin' UP). I popped a couple of mini vintage copper brads on either side of the greeting.
Hope you're enjoying the beginning of autumn, no matter where you live!
Happy Creating!

I LOVE Kitchen Sink stamps too ... AND the non-traditional coloring you did!
