Remember that flower image I used as a silhouette on yesterday's card? I used just the first step image for the stem and the flower. Well, I loved how it looked so much (I ADORE the silhouette look!), I decided to take it even further and do some brayering with it.
At our new house, we have a lot of great sunsets over the fields and mountains behind our house. My grandfather has been bringing his camera with him every time he comes to the house so that he can get the perfect sunset picture. I really enjoy having such a beautiful light show right behind my house.....and the best thing is that it's FREE!
I wanted to create a sunset looking type of effect with these images and with my brayer. I've lately been really inspired by the Brayer Wizardry that is Michelle Zindorf's trademark. What she does with a brayer is astounding and visually stunning, so I'm trying to practice at it.
I stamped the large flower and stem from the 3-Step Get Well Teddy set (from Kitchen Sink Stamps) onto glossy white cardstock with Versamark ink. I even curved the stem a few times when putting it on my acrylic block so that I could make some of the flowers look like they were bending towards each other. I embossed the images with clear embossing powder
I punched a circle out of scrap paper using my circle punch and lightly adhered it on the glossy cardstock so that I could brayer over it and it wouldn't move. I started at the bottom of the glossy cardstock and brayered with Pixie Pink ink. Then, I overlapped it a bit with Pink Passion. Next, working up the cardstock, I brayered with Orchid Opulence and then finished at the top with Lovely Lilac. When I was done brayering, I rubbed over the embossed images with a tissue to wipe off the excess ink and then carefully pulled off the punched circle to reveal the full moon.
I sponged some black ink around the outside of the cardstock to darken the edges up a bit. Because I used Staz-On ink and it's permanent, it doesn't rub off the embossed images.
I used the same ink for the Get Well Soon greeting, which also comes from the Get Well Teddy set.
I mounted the glossy cardstock on top of Orchid Opulence cardstock and then on top of a Pink Passion card base.
I am REALLY digging how this turned out and can't wait to take out my brayer again!
Happy Creating!
