I bet you all can't imagine what I turn to in the event of a survival situation. Okay, you probably CAN guess. I've made myself pretty transparent as to what my comfort food is.
Yes.....you're right.
CHOCOLATE!
There's nothing that soothes this mama's soul or turns a frown upside down quite quite like chocolate can.
When I saw Melanie Muenchinger's new sets for GinaK...."What's in your Tin 1" and "What's in your Tin 2"....I thought CHOCOLATE!
Gina is now carrying these adorable Altoid Tins and these are what Melanie had in mind when she designed her stamp sets. These sets are made specifically for these tins and the possibilities are ENDLESS! One of the sets is set up as a "kid" type of set and the other is set up as an "adult" type of set. But then....I never really grew up, so I can use both for myself! haha!
I actually used both sets for this tin. The frames are great for the top of the tins and when you cut them out and mount them on the top of the tin, you get a very nice silver border around the image from the tin. It makes the tin look so clean cut.
I stamped my frame directly onto a piece of patterned paper (from Die Cuts with a View....yes, I know I've been using a lot of that paper lately, but I just realized how MUCH of it I had and that I needed to start using it rather than just looking at it *wink*). I stamped the words inside the frame, then I cut along the edge of the frame. I mounted this on top of the lid with my SNAIL Adhesive ...that's really all you need. To add a little bit of bling to the top of the lid, I adhered some large Rain Dots to the large letters of the first two words. Just a little something, not too much, but just enough.
I cut a strip of patterned paper and then sponged along the edge with a stamping sponge and some Purely Pomegranate ink and then used my SNAIL Adhesive to adhere it around the edge of the tin. I secured the end with a little bit of Sticky Strip for the final hold. You can get a little bit of a better look at the picture below.
The Survival Kit stamp was from the "adult" set....but the stamp I used on the inside of the tin lid is from the "kid" set.
Sure, I need chocolate in a survival situation, but when it comes to my chocolate, it's hands off! Well, not really. I just like to make sure that it doesn't all get eaten away from me. I DO share well. *wink*
The frame stamps work well for the inside of the tin, as well. I loved having something to size that could easily be cut out and know that it'll fit AND look good without me even really trying.
I don't know why, but opening little tins with indulgent candies wrapped in that fancy tissue or parchment paper has always fascinated me. I feel like I'm eating something that was hand wrapped for me and very special. Kind of like I'm almost not worthy of such a fantastic treat. I recently found some nonpareils that had white AND pink sprinkles on them made out of pure Belgian chocolate. I HAD to have them. I'd never seen anything like them before. They were perfect to put in this tin, seeing that the patterned paper had pink in it.
Since they were so cute, dainty and special, I decided they had to be wrapped up in that special tissue paper. I cut a piece of regular tissue paper to fit inside the tin and then poured the candies in and wrapped the tissue over.
I will admit that I DID eat some of the chocolates, but it was only because there were too many to fit in the tin. The tin wouldn't close right if ALL of the chocolates were in there, so I did it in the best interest of the tin. Besides, I didn't want there to be any chocolate smudges on that nice white tissue paper by trying to force the tin closed with all those chocolates in there. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
And yes, those little chocolate babies are as tasty as they look! I still have another box stashed in my file cabinet and so far, it's gone untouched by the chocolate thieves that reside with me. I think I might need to eat them all before they get eaten by someone else.
I know I said I was going to post a new Bake it, Make it & Take it Post yesterday and I'm sorry I didn't get to do that yet. I had to make dinner and dessert for 75 people yesterday (I took pictures), so it was one of those things that got put on the back burner (pun intended). I'll have one up for you on Monday. Trust me....it's worth the wait!
Have a wonderful and creative weekend!
Happy Creating!

I just love this!! I didn't even notice the page pebbles the other night during the release(too busy ogling the chocolate!) but that is such an nice touch! and yes, the tissue really makes it seem all the more luxurious! will have to try that, too, (maybe it will make me eat them more slowly because they seems expensive instead of wolfing them down in a single sitting? maybe not!) Thank you sharing your talent!
dinner for 75?? oh my! I'd have a coronary if I had to serve 7!
