Yesterday, I shared the vertical style card that I showcased in one of the pockets in the purse that I shared in THIS POST.
Today, I want to share the horizontal card that I showcased in the purse.
Many things about this card are the same as the first card, but there is a bit of a different look to it.
I used the same Soft Sky cardstock as my card base, along with the Whisper White for the second layer. I also used the same tone-on-tone patterned paper for stamping on.
I moved the flower a bit over to the left of the card, though, and stamped off the edge of my paper to allow me some extra room for my greeting. I also didn't use as many petals for this card.
To get the look of the petals, I first stamped the solid petal image from the Pretty Petals set first with Bordering Blue ink. I then stamped the patterned petal over the top of the solid image with Versamark ink. I also stamped the large flower from the Happy Birthday Cupcake set in the center of the flower with Versamark ink. I coated the Versamarked images with white embossing powder and heated them.
For some reason, these petals REALLY pop out at me. Having that bright white pattern on top of the solid blue is so striking.
I added a Wild Wasabi stem to the flower, as well as a flat backed jewel to the center of the flower to carry over the theme I used on the purse and the other card.
The "happy" greeting is from the Never a Loss 4 Words set, which I stamped with Wild Wasabi ink. To get the deep green color of the Wild Wasabi ink, I stamped the words over themselves 3 times each. Using a clear stamp really helped with this technique. I was able to line them up without a jig. Sweet deal!
Thank you to all of you that emailed and commented about my dental surgery yesterday. The pain isn't as bad as it was yesterday when the Novocaine wore off, but I still feel a bit like I was in a prize fight and lost. *wink* My jaw is swollen and I'm sporting a bit of a bruise on my face. I'm hoping for a little bit better of a night's sleep. We also had a snow day here today because of the snow and freezing rain (we had a no-school day yesterday because the school's furnace broken down and there was no heat). I'm sure tomorrow will be much better. Tomorrow's a BIG day!
Not only is it Valentine's, but it's also my son's 9th birthday, as well as a big GIVE-AWAY day! You don't want to miss out on the prizes that I'll be giving away tomorrow. Make sure to stop back in later tomorrow.
Happy Creating!

Happy Birthday, Zach!

Hi Erika :) Glad to hear you survived your dental excursion yesterday, and feeling a bit better today. Hopefully tomorrow you will be showered with huggsss, kisses, Valentines, and of course LOADS of your favorite Dove chocolates (you can always suck/melt chocolate in your mouth without hurting your jaw/dental area). :)
I LOVE your purse creation with the Pretty Petal images. I have to confess -{shame face}- .... I purchased a similar purse but still haven't determined how to best *showcase* it :( There are so many design papers I adore, as well as stamped images ~~ I guess the trick is to just **DO IT** (as Nike would say HA) and then change it around as many times as you want :0)
Are you going to actually USE your purse Erika? I hope so, as the colours will just bring out the blue in your eyes! BTW, you are beautiful in your new Blog photo~~ you should wear that teal-vibrant-blue ALL the time!
PS: ~~!!!***!!! HAPPY 9TH BIRTHDAY ZACH !!!***!!!~~
