My husband came to the USA on Thanksgiving Day and spent it eating at a gas station (only thing open)...then he went shopping on Black Friday to get a few essentials for his new apartment (he had no idea). What an introduction to the USA.

Well the following week I met him at a work party and felt so sorry for him, I invited him home with me for Christmas and New Year's...although by that time we had started to date...not that anyone knew about it at work for the next two years...but that is another story ;-)

I met my hubby on a Catholic Retreat Team when we were both in high school. It was a group of teens who ran retreats for other teens. It was love at first sight for me - but I had to wait for several years before we actually got together. He dated my best friend first!! A favorite saying of mine that kind of describes the situation because although we were good friends, he fought his feelings for me in the beginning (after he brok eup with my best friend!):

He drew a circle to shut me out, heretic, rebel and thing to flout.
But Love & I had the wit to win, WE drew a circle that took him IN!

Happy New Year! I met my husband at a party although we just flirted across the room. However at the end of the night he left to drive his friend home but then came back to wait for me to leave and offered to take me home. A few dates later we were engaged! We're still together 15 years later so I must have made an impression!

I met my significant other in a taxicab. He was the driver and I was a student at a technical college and called a taxi every afternoon to pick me. He picked me up a few times and then eventually became my personal taxi. That was 32 years ago.

Karin Tunnell

I met one of my best friends at church.

Cool topic!!! My dad is a preacher & went to a town a few hours away to preach a revival meeting. When he came home he told me that he had met 2 guys that he wanted me to meet! At the time I wasn't interested in anyone that my dad thought was "appropriate" so when Jim came to visit our church, I snuck out the back door!! I actually met him a few months later when he visited the area again! We didn't start dating until 5 or 6 years later. We've been married over 20 years now so I'd say my dad made a good choice!! (The other guy is married to a friend of mine!! My hubby actually dated her once or twice too but that was before I knew her!!!)

I met my husband at a Sunday night church meeting. We actually just celebrated our 30th anniversary Dec. 27th!

I met my hubby, Chris, when I was married to my first husband, Jeremy. Jeremy and Chris were best friends. They met because Jeremy worked at a radio station where Chris was a police officer. Chris would go by and check on him when he worked over nights at the radio station. Jeremy passed away of a heart attack at 21 and I was heartbroken. To make a long story short, after several years Chris and I started dating and we fell in love. We were friends for years before we started dating and he was there for me when I needed someone to talk to. Chris is the best husband ever!

Hi Erika...I met my husband through his sister. I got a job that she was leaving to get married & I met her & she said "I have this brother that I'm trying to marry off" I was like "oh, great" well....20 years later, I guess that tells the story...it was GREAT...

My BFF and SO, otherwise known fondly here as "mi esposo favorito" and I met in high school! In tenth grade I moved into a new high school and he sat in front of me in Social Studies class. He was always joking around and coming up with practical jokes...with my love of humor, we became fast friends...we both had other 'loves' at the time, but when both of those relationships failed, we decided to try dating...and still are dating...28 years later!! (okay, 24 years of honeymooning!) Thanks for the prize chance! :)

Love your blog! =) A friend of mine who worked at our local tanning salon called my DH while I was in tanning and told him there was someone there who needed a cellphone ASAP (he was an agent for CellularOne back then...). I had no clue until I came out of the tanning booth (imagine what I looked like after sweating in a tanning booth!! Yuck!) and she kept me hanging around for a while. When he showed up she said "R - this is Chrissie. Chrissie, this is R. You two should talk." We talked for a little while and he asked for my number and said he would call me some time. I figured, yeah, right.... Well, I got home and about two hours later he called! We went on our first date a few days later and the rest is history! We have been together 10 years this May. =) Funny thing is - we went to school together (although 5 years apart) and didn't even know each other then! Yet, we know all the same people! LOL

Amanda Sewell

LOL! Hope I win! I met my DH because he knew my roomate, but she was busy entertaining some people when he came over and so he wandered into my bedroom and started to chat with me and the rest is history :)

Hi Erika, I met my husband in Brookline, MA in 1974. We lived in brownstones next door to each other. He had this cool little navy blue Fiat which is what first caught my attention...LOL. He proposed on New Year's Eve 2 years later and we celebrated our 30th anniversary last July. My Mother told me to marry a dentist, so I did; but he was a Pediatric Dentist. Happy New Year!

I met my hubby in LAX on a blind date, he was a dashing naval officer and I was a flight attendant, my roomate arranged it...still going strong...

Heather the MooseLover

Great giveaway Erika! I had a high school crush on my husband's best friend and my husband dated a good friend of mine. turned out that once we got to know each other the sparks flew! We dated for 4 years and have been married 14!

Hehe, like Shannon, met Andy at a bar:

I told him it would be a great story to tell the grandkids. =)

He came pre-approved by my parent - no it was not an arranged marriage. They just said he was a polite young man when they went to visit my brother in Cincinnati. I stayed home to open shop.

When I finally met him, I was given a mission to determine why he was the Mr. Nice in Cincinnati.

All I wanted to do? Ditch him and party; my first night out in a real bar nevermind the real tame city part. How bad or wild can they get? I was 21 at the time and always was doing charity or hitting the books. Party about once a year.

His mission? Chaperone his best friend's little sister. As soon as we were introduced, the entire loft was clear like you wouldn't believe it LOL.

We hooked up a year later... doing the long distance phone thing. He was working and doing the MBA weekend commute to Chicago. I'd fly in from Seattle during long weekends. We both wanted to finish school then get married.

We just celebrated our 2 year! Wee! Nothing like having 1/1 for an anniversary; luckily the year we married, it was an auspicious day on the Lunar calendar. We get fireworks and everyone else doing the party planning. LOL

Happy New Year and many years of blessing for everyone!

Hi Erika,
I like the updated look on your blog :) I met my hubby on the job...I worked for his boss at the time, and he would always cruise by my office and make excuses to stop by and ask 'work related' questions...and then always one personal question at the end. So cute and charming he was...I mean is! LOL thanks for the chance at some really fun and cute candy!!

I had just gotten a divorce and my sister called me up one day to have lunch. We started talking about me getting back into the dating world and she said she'd find someone for me. She called a few days later and told me about this guy. He called and I immediately knew he'd fit in with my life. He was a hunter/fisherman kinda guy (like my dad and brothers. We met after a few weeks of talking on the phone and hit it off. He was really good with my 2 daughters too. He's now my husband of 3 years and we have a beautiful son together

I met my husband when I was a student teacher in a kindergarten class. He was doing practicums in the class across from mine! So we would see each other way across the room! That was over 10 years ago!

I met my husband in a restaurant we both worked at. He thinks he picked me up - I had decided long before he even noticed me that he was the one. What fun it was!!!
