On Saturday of this past weekend, I got to spend part of the day with a bunch of girls on my team at a beautiful house on the lake stamping away all sorts of great projects. I had planned to spend the weekend, but my parents were here for the weekend, as well, so I only went up on Saturday. I still came home with a great bunch of projects that all of the girls planned and prepped for all of us (a show box swap....we each prepped 2-3 projects and cut everything out and brought the supplies to create the projects...we only had to think about 2-3 projects, but came home with 24 different projects total!).
I ended up leaving earlier than I had planned because I wasn't feeling up to par....and since then, I've only gotten worse. My son, Zach, stayed home from school today and we both took a trip to the doctor's office. My voice is just about gone. My husband says I sound like a 12 year old boy going through puberty....my voice is cracking all over the place. And just for poo and giggles, you should hear me sing! Okay, maybe you'd rather not, but I promise you it's quite entertaining. Sad, but entertaining. Come to find out, we both have the Coxsackie Virus. We're both on inhalers now and trying to wait this thing out.
One of the good things about being sick, though, is that I have even MORE of an excuse to stamp. Not that I didn't have one before....after all, it's what I DO! But I love being able to say, "I'm sick, so I HAVE to spend time sitting down and taking it easy and stamping."
Anyway........the first calendar, at the top of this post, is the project that I made and prepped for the retreat weekend. It has a magnet on the back so that it hangs up on the fridge, or it could be hung up on the metal bars of those cubicles in the office. There's plenty of places that these could be put and found useful. They make great teachers' gifts, gifts for day care providers or for the person that has everything.
I loved this little project so much that I decided to put together a few more this afternoon. I took out my packs of Designer Series paper and whipped up 3 more. They were quick and easy to put together. Literally all of 7-8 minutes for each one.
The girls at the retreat asked me where I got the cute little calendar pads from. I know that some people print theirs out using a program on the computer, but for me, I like something easy and quick and also something that doesn't have to be printed out, cut out and stapled.
Another stamper turned me on to a great website called Stamp On This. This is where I found these groovy little 2008 Calendar pads. You can't beat the price of 3 for $1.00! They shipped super quick and I had them in about 3 days!
They're approximately 3 1/8 x 2 inches and fit perfectly on these great 4 x 4 inch coasters.
They even have the holidays grayed out! For those of you that are out of the US, they also have calendars with no holidays grated out on them so that you can either use them without holidays, or you can mark the holidays of your country on your own.
I wrapped a piece of grosgrain ribbon around the front and back of each coaster and used SNAIL adhesive to hold it. I then hot glued some super strong magnets to the back.
Each coaster has a stamped or paper embellishment that I gave a little more dimension to by using pop-dots.
I love distressing my patterned papers, so I sanded the edges of all of the patterned papers I used. I also "swiped" the cardstocks that were used for the base layers with the coordinating ink pads....to carry over the distressed look.
On the bottom three coasters, I swiped around the outside edges of the coasters with Whisper White Craft ink.
Patterned paper choices:
* Coaster #1: Blue Bayou Prints Designer Series paper
* Coaster #2: Holiday Harmony Designer Series paper
* Coaster #3: Brocade Background Designer Series paper
Coaster #4: Outlaw Designer Series paper
Happy Creating!

Where did you get the coasters? I should probably know this.. I'm sure it's a "duh" question...but if I don't ask, I'll be annoyed with myself!
