I just realized this morning that I haven't updated here since TUESDAY! Where in the world have I been??? I've been home for most of the time, but I've had so many creative projects going on, as well as deadlines, that the time has totally gotten away from me!
I sat myself down at my craft desk to work on some projects for my blog and decided that I'd also work on some designs for two upcoming kids' stamping classes that I'm doing at the library in town in August. I wanted something simple, but something that would also give a lot of punch.
I ended up with two cards using the same design so that one could be used for boys and one could be used for girls. Of course, I'm going to change out the greeting for the Bugs & Kisses card, as I doubt that boys will want to use that greeting. :) You know how boys can be with cooties and kisses and such. *wink*
For both of these cards, I mounted the stamped white cardstock strip on top of the colored cardstock strip underneath with Pop-Dots to give it some extra dimension.
The Canvas Background stamp seemed to really fit the bug theme well. It looks like a window screen trying to keep all the bugs out.
Supplies for Bugs & Kisses Card:
Stamps: Bugs & Kisses set, Canvas Background; Cardstock: Green Galore, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White; Ink: Green Galore, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, Basic Black, Orchid Opulence; Pop-Dots; Red Gingham Ribbon
Like the above card, I used the same design, as well as the same dimensions. I just went with totally different colors and stamps. I used some fun GinaK Designs stamps for this card.
I did the same thing with the white strip of cardstock......I mounted it to the red cardstock underneath using Pop-Dots. It takes an otherwise flat card and turns it into something with a little more POP! (which is kind of ironic, considering that I used Pop-dots to make it pop! HA!)
I wanted to keep this card simple, but felt the hearts needed a little extra something, so I went for the glitter. It hasn't failed me yet! (It's a joke in our house that my make-up consists solely of chapstick and Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Hey what more could a girl ask for??) I just love the look of Dazzling Diamonds glitter! It's hard to see in this picture, but it REALLY has a lot of shine (*now wishes I had taken the picture in direct sunlight so that you could SEE how it shines!*)
This card design is really simple and it doesn't take a lot of cardstock cutting. It's a great layout for kids.....which is why I definitely think this one is a winner for the kids' classes I'll be doing in August. My daughter (she's 7 and LOVES crafting....that kid makes this mother proud!) will be my "little helper" at the class and I think I might even let her teach this one particular card since I know how much she LOVES to play teacher. (I honestly think it's more about being able to tell people what to do and the power trip that makes her like being the "teacher." haha!)
Supplies for Hearts Card:
Stamps: Country Hearts Background, Arrow Heart, My Heart Belongs to You (GinaK); Cardstock: Pretty in Pink, Real Red, Whisper White; Ink: Pretty in Pink, Real Red, Basic Black; Red Gingham Ribbon; Dazzling Diamonds glitter; pop-Dots; 2-Way Glue Pen
Have a fantastic weekend!
Happy Creating!

Both of your cards are wonderful. The first one is adorable with the bugs. I have the set and I still have not cut and mounted the stamps. I have got to do that after seeing what you have made. As for the heart card. I love that you used dazzling diamonds on only one of the hearts. It really stands out.
Love your cards Erika.

I love these kinds of short cuts. I send out LOTS of cards every month and love to make them, but hate to make 15 of the same card, so this gives a great variety. The same with the 10 in 1 cards.
Thanks,
Cheryl
