One of my VERY good crafty friends, Nicole, first showed me the Double Resist Technique and I fell in love with it. I posted my first Double Resist card HERE. This technique melts two fun techniques together that give such a WOW! It puts together the Emboss Resist and VersaMark resist techniques and there's SO many options and color combinations that you can come up with.
Supplies:
* Two different stamps (I used the flower grouping and the heart from the Love It 2nd Level hostess set)
* Glossy cardstock
* VersaMark pad
* Crystal Clear Embossing Powder
* Embossing gun
* Stamping Sponges
* Classic ink pads (I used Rose Red, Real Red and Regal Rose - I started out using Pretty in Pink and ended up switching to Regal Rose)
Step 1) Use one of your images and stamp it onto your glossy cardstock in a random pattern with a VersaMark pad.
Step 2) Sprinkle Clear embossing powder on your images and shake off the excess (return the excess back to the container).
Step 3) Emboss your images.
Step 4) After your embossed images cool, stamp your other images over the top with VersaMark ink and let those images dry a bit (so they're not wet and very sticky).
Step 5) When the VersaMark is not very sticky and tacky anymore, start sponging one of your colors over your images, leaving space for your other colors. When you're done with your first color, start with your second color, making sure to leave space for your third color. Finish up with your third color, filling in the spaces so there's no blank spots left.
Here is the finished cardstock when all three colors are added. After you're done with all your sponging, take a clean sponge and rub over your embossed images to pull off the excess ink. This will help to pop out the embossed images so that you can see the white cardstock underneath the images.
To finish off my card, I mounted the Double Resist cardstock on a piece of Pretty in Pink, then adhered a piece of black gingham ribbon around the bottom and adhered the ends around the back of the cardstock. I then mounted that on top of a Rose Red cardbase.
I used one my 1 1/2 inch rectangle Bazzill Chips (chipboard) and mounted a piece of Rose Red cardstock on it (I swiped the edges of the cardstock with Rose Red ink). I cut a piece of Pretty in Pink cardstock just a tad smaller and stamped the word, "Love," from the Wonderful Words set on it with Rose Red ink. I swiped my Pretty in Pink ink pad around the edges and then mounted this on top of the chipboard. I adhered this over the gingham ribbon with some Glue dots.
For the little accents on the card, I stamped the heart and the flower images from the Love It hostess set with VersaMark ink on Rose Red (the heart) and Pretty in Pink (the flower) cardstocks. I embossed them with Clear embossing powder, then cut them out with scissors. I put silver brads through the centers of the flowers and then adhered those to my card with a single Stampin' Dimensional (also known as "pop-dots") under each. For the heart, I put a double layer of Stampin' Dimensionals underneath so that this would sit higher than the flowers.
I love the dimension the chipboard and the pop-dots give to this card. I love this card so much that now I don't want to give it away! haha! Maybe I'll save it for our anniversary in June and give it to my hubby so that I can confiscate it after he's read it. ;)
Happy Creating!

Does it have to be Glossy cardstock? Or could I just use the whisper white? I don't remember... I have done this before but it's been quite a while. Thanks for you help Erika!

Erika, I followed your tutorial tonight and I'm so pleased with the card! Between the glossy paper and embossing the card has so much texture and glitz, the picture really doesn't do it justice. You can find my version at: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=441380&cat=6557
Thanks so much for sharing!

Erika, Tempting technique...I have a spring-theme swap due tonight. I am going to get started. I will try green and yellow. Your eyes are the color inspiration! My daughter is Erica with green eyes, also. She somehow got a nickname of "Bean." Eyes as green as a bean and she loves garden green beans! Thank you for this tutorial. I understood EVERYTHING! ps love your beads!

Among thousands of people, you meet those you've met. Through thousands of years, with the boundlessness of time, you happen to meet them, neither earlier nor a bit too late.
