You can probably already guess that my craft desk is covered in glitter! :) My husband and I joke that my make-up consists of chap stick and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. I'm not really a bling-bling girl when it comes to clothes, jewelry and make-up, but I LOVE my bling-bling when it comes to cards. I especially love Dazzling Diamonds glitter!
I adore the little Turtle stamp from GinaK Designs. He's just so darn cute! After I did the window card in yesterday's post, I wanted to try another one, but this time, with my 1 3/8 inch circle punch.
I also wanted to give the turtles a little more POP, so I mounted them on 1 1/4 inch Bazzill Chips circles.
I started with a piece of Orchid Opulence cardstock and stamped it with the Harlequin Background stamp with the same color of ink (the card opens vertically rather than horizontally....the fold is at the top of the card, rather than the side). I sponged around the edges of the cardstock with Orchid Opulence ink to soften it up a bit. I cut little 1 inch squares out of Gable Green cardstock and then cut them in half diagonally. I also sponged around the edges of the triangles with Green Galore ink and then mounted them at the top and bottom corners of the cardfront. They added just a little bit more color and helped the cardfront to have some visual pop to it.
I used my circle punch to pop out 3 circles on my cardfront and I sponged around the edges of each of the circles with Orchid Opulence ink. I stamped the turtles on Whisper White cardstock and then placed a chipboard circle on top of them to trace around them. I cut them out, mounted them on the chipboard, sanded the edges and then colored them in with my Stampin' Write Markers (I used Green Galore, Gable Green, Orchid Opulence, Pink Passion and Tempting Turquoise). I sprayed each of them with spray adhesive and then sprinkled on the Dazzling Diamonds glitter. On the inside of the card, I mounted a piece Gable Green cardstock that I had sponged around with Green Galore ink. I closed the cardfront and adhered the chipboard turtles inside the round windows with Glue dots.
I tied Black gingham ribbon through each of the windows and around the cardfront, finishing them off with double knots (I'm so NOT a bow girl).
The inside of the card has two of GinaK's stamps.....the "It's your birthday, give a cheer" stamp and the Curly "Happy Birthday" stamp. I stamped both of these in Lovely Lilac ink. I left a blank space at the bottom left hand corner for a signature and a small handwritten sentiment. :)
I really wish you could see more of the sparkle on the turtles, but just believe me when I tell you they REALLY sparkle!
I love the look of windows and having something pop through them. The chipboard really does add a lot to them.....LOVE the dimension it adds.
I hope you all have a wonderful New Years Day, but even more, I hope you all have a wonderful 2007....all year through!
Happy Creating!

Erika, This Card is amazingly adorable! One of my NYR's is to make up some Birthday Cards in advance for my kids cause you never know when they will come home from school with a birthday invitation 2 days before the birthday. UGH.. This would make some serious 7 and 9 year olds parents turn their heads :) Maybe even gain a new customer or two... always looking for more of them. Anyway, I wanted to ask you. From the front view of the card, it appears that there is a Green Ring around the outer edge of the circles. It looks like a frame of some sort. At first glance I thought you had used circle tags, then thought, how did she get them green. Could you please explaine how this is achieved. I have read the turorial over and over again, but I must be missing it. Thank you for always posting such wonderful and inspiring works of art. And always Just when I need them. I have yet to see you post something I didnt like. How do you do it?! Thanks in advance, Have a safe and prosperous 2007. May you be kept Happy, Healthy and Safe.

Your card is adorable. I love the dazzling diamonds over the stamped and colored little turtles. The turtles looks so festive. Thank you for sharing this with us. It sounds as though you spent a good amount of time on this card.
