I needed a distraction today, so I made a quick card using colors from a project that I made this past summer as my inspiration. I love Rose Red, Apricot Appeal and Certainly Celery together. They have such a calming effect to them.
The other day, I had a whole package of Pop-dots (those little adhesive foam spacers that give embellishments some dimension.....also known as Stampin' Dimensionals) out on my desk and I have NO idea where they went. It's a mystery. I have searched everywhere around my craft desk and taken things apart and NO pop-dots to be found. I was able to dig some up this afternoon from the deep, dark recesses of one of my craft bins so that I could use it on this card. I go through stages where I use certain items on my projects and right now, it's ribbon and pop-dots.
I started by stamping the 3-flower image from the Love It (Level 2 Hostess Set) on Apricot Appeal cardstock with Apricot Appeal ink. I swiped around the cardfront with the Apricot Appeal ink pad to give it a distressed look. I stamped the same image on the strip of Certainly Celery cardstock with Certainly Celery ink and swiped around the edges with the same color of ink. I mounted this on my cardfront.
I stamped the flower and heart images on Rose Red and Apricot Appeal cardstock with Versamark ink. I mixed together some Crystal Clear embossing powder with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter and sprinkled this mixture over my Versamark images. I shook off the excess and then used my embossing gun to heat and emboss the images. It's hard to see in the picture but these embossed images have some really pretty glitz to them. It's like a toned down version of the Iridescent Ice embossing powder.
I cut out the flower and heart images and then punched a hole in the center of the flower with a 1/16 inch hole punch and put a light pink brad through it. I mounted the images on the Certainly Celery strip with Stampin' Dimensionals (pop-dots) to give the more dimension.
I tied a piece of celery green polka dotted ribbon around the front of my card with a double-knot. I then stamped the words, "hugs & kisses," (from the All Year Cheer I set) with Basic Black ink on Rose Red cardstock. I used the Word Window punch to punch out the word, but since it made a punch-out that was TOO big, I then placed the punched-out piece back in the punch and aligned it so that I could punch close to the words and make it look like a small pill. It's just a smaller version of the long Word Window punch-out. I then punched a small hole using the 1/16 inch hole punch and ran a small piece of Silver Cord through it and tied it around the knot on my celery ribbon.
Have a wonderful evening!
Happy Creating!

I agree with you about these colors having a calming effect when used together. Erika, your card is lovely. I like what you have done with the flowers and the 2 hearts. They look like glass. So pretty and they certainly give your card that 3-D look. :) Love the celery green and white polka dotted ribbon. I have some of that and use it when ever I can. Your little tag gives your card that special finishing touch. Awesome card as usual. :)

Hi Erika,
Very nice card! When you say you "swiped the edges with the inkpad", can you describe that a bit more for me?
When I attempt to do this, either just the very edge picks up colour or I end up with hatch marks on the border of my cardstock from the inkpad - it never looks like yours!
Thanks,
Alison

I am laughing about you saying you 'lost' your pop dots! I really hate when things just disappear! It is so-o frustrating and can sap your creativity, but only if you let it

You only lost ONE THING? I am so jealous. ok..I will finally admit here that I always lose at least 2 things that I was just working on 2 minutes ago. Does that tell you what my creative table looks like?
Erika, this card is really awesome!!! I love the colors and your idea of mixing the glitter and embossing powder. Thanks for another inspiring day! Love, Janet in NC
