Pink & Red Valentine's card - She's a Paper Princess!

Girly and I had a card making time before she went to bed for the night. Lately, she seems to ask to make cards every night before bed. I think she really likes the mom/daughter time doing something we both enjoy (though we DO enjoy a lot of the same things). She gets to use my Copics because I know she respects them and takes good care of them. She made sure that I saw how she colored with them so that I could be extra confident with her.

We like picking colors together, but Girly also loves picking her own colors and doing her own thing. She's got a really good idea for color and design! That girl is a natural paper crafter!

She wanted to take part in the Heartily Yours blog hop that's going on over at my blog (Stampin' Mama) as well as the blogs of many other girls on the GinaK team.

She also wanted to use some of the luscious cardstock and velum that she received as being a Paper Princess for the Paper Temptress. 

She used a piece of Red Texture cardstock (which has a beautiful mottled look and texture to it) and layered a piece of Sandy Stripes Vellum across the middle. She stamped her wishing well image (from the Heartily Yours set) on white cardstock with black ink and then colored it with Copics. She layered that on top of Violet Vellum.

The greeting is from the Heartily Yours set and was stamped with black ink. The buttons on the sides of the well are from the Romance button assortment and were put on with mini glue dots.

And here's the Creative Girly herself in all her stamping glory at her mama's craft desk. 

As you can see, we're big Spongebob Squarepants fans in this house. The adults, too!

Girly's newest cards - Paper Princess

Girly and I shared my desk today so she could create some cards. She loves to create with my tools and especially loves to use my Copic markers. She knows I'm protective over them so it's a real treat if I let her use them. 

Girly got her first design team spot as a Paper Princess for the Paper Temptress! She's so excited about this. You should have seen her face light up when she found out!

She created these two cards using such pretty papers from the Paper Temptress.

She used the glittery black cardstock for her base and she used a white Glimmer paper to cut with the Top Note Big Shot die. She stamped one of the new GinaK Designs sets coming out with the January release called Wishes and Dreams. She colored the images in with Copic markers and added some glitter to the wings and stars.

She did such a great job of staying in the lines and also coloring the outside edge of the Top Note die along the perforation. She mounted this on top of the glimmery black cardstock with pop-dots. 

Girly decided that this fairy is most definitely the Tooth Fairy. I think she's right!

Her next card was created using a gorgeous piece of Red Texture cardstock. We both love the look of this. It's all mottled and has a really nice texture to it.

Girly wanted to get a head start on her Valentine's cards so she started with this one.

She adhered a strip of Violet Vellum across her card base. She stamped some of the hearts from the new Happy Hearts set (debuting from GinaK this month) on Solar White columned cardstock with Real Red and Lovely Lilac ink and cut them out and popped them up with some pop-dots.

She stamped the words (from the Happy Hearts set) across the top of her card with black ink.

Make your own candy/trinket box

It's been a little while since we've posted here, but I have a bunch of videos that need to be edited and put up. If only there were more time in the day!

Creative Girly is back to show you how to create your very own trinket or candy box using popsicle sticks, glue and embellishments.

These boxes make great holiday gifts for grandparents or even for Dad's desk at the office. They're wonderful teacher's gifts, as well.

We found that hot glue works best since it hardens quick and gives the sticks a very sturdy hold, but we don't recommend using hot glue with small children unless there is adult supervision and an adult using the glue gun in most cases. Regular school glue will work just fine, but the box will need to sit longer for the glue to dry, as well as to be ready to paint.

Here's what you'll need:

• Popsicle sticks (you can use either wooden sticks or foam sticks)
• glue (if using a hot glue gun, please have adult supervision)
• paint
• glitter or pom-poms

The foam popsicle sticks make a slightly flexible box and aren't meant for heavy items.

Make your own foam alien masks

Creative Girly has really gotten the most out of that pack of foam sheets we got at the dollar store. She still has some left, but we'll wait a while to show you some more foam crafts. She has some other fun things up her sleeve that she wants to show you this week, but for now, we want to show you how to make your very own alien masks.

This is what you'll need:

• foam sheets
• scissors
• string or ribbon
• markers or crayons
• glitter

Now, let your imagination run wild! Aliens can be anything you make up in your mind! Get creative. Think outside of the box. Get crazy with your ideas!

Make your own foam animal masks!

Here's another great foam craft brought to you by none other than the Amazing Creative Girly!

Using that same pack  of foam sheets (which we got at the dollar store....$1 goes a LONG way!), Girly shows you how to create your very own foam animals masks.

This is what you'll need:

• foam sheets
• scissors
• string or ribbon
• markers or crayons
• tape
• paper (construction paper or computer paper, whichever you prefer)

Now, just pick an animal, put on your thinking cap and let your imagination run wild!

Make your own sparkly foam snowflakes

With winter fast approaching in Vermont (or so it feels like in the middle of September), we start thinking the coming snow. We all have a love of snowflakes here. Girly and Zach spend countless amounts of time cutting homemade snowflakes during the colder months. There's always happy scraps of paper lying around the craft room from their creations.

Girly recently got some sheets of craft foam and she started to experiment with them and made her own snowflakes with them. In this video, she shows how to create one-of-a-kind snowflakes using:

• foam sheets
• scissors
• glue
• glitter
• markers

The possibilities are endless and you'll never end up with two alike! You can add some string, twine or ribbon to your snowflakes to hang them around the house.

Creative Girly makes a Time Machine!

Girly has such an active imagination. For years, the kids have pretended the bathroom was a time machine. They would pretend that the light switch was the on and off switch for the time machine and they would come out and be in another place and time. We sit back and watch and get such a kick out of seeing their take on the world.

Creative Girly created her own time machine just recently and we made sure to document it on video. There's a few videos to watch, but they're well worth the entertainment and kids will get some new ideas on how to create their own time machine.

Creative Girly tends to be a very "green" crafter....she likes to go through the recycle bin and pick out what she can use for her crafts. You don't need anything fancy to make your own time machine. Just some boxes, tape or glue, a marker, some paper (in Girly's case, she used some wood scraps) and your imagination!

Creative Girly Creations shop is now open!

Exciting news! The Creative Girly Creations Shop is now open on Etsy!

Girly has worked hard to pick out pretty packaging and ribbons for her soap and she has them all listed in her shop now. Not only did she put her Melt & Pour soap creations in the shop, but we also added beautiful big bars of Oatmeal ylang-ylang soap, as well. These bars of soap are made the old fashion way (with a little bit of a new fangled twist) and they even float!

None of our soaps contain animal products and they're all natural.

And even better...when you shop at Creative Girly Creations, you'll be helping to support a budding young entrepreneur in her creative endeavors, as well as "Village 2 Village Project."

Creative Girly is a kid wanting to make a difference for other kids. ***20% of all profits from this shop help to support Village 2 Village Project - a grass-roots project helping orphaned children in Uganda.***

She created a video to show you some of her soaps up close and personal and tell you a little bit more about how she wants to help others.

Paint your own T-shirts

 Creative Girly is back with another fun craft for kids. In this video, she's going to show how easy it is to take a plain t-shirt, some paint and a paint brush to create your very own unique and one-of-a-kind t-shirt. There's no two alike and you'll have your very own artwork to wear whenever you like!

We found our t-shirts for $2.50 a piece at our local dollar store, but they can also be found on sale at department stores or even in craft stores.

Here's what you'll need for to make your own Painted T-shirt:

• White or colored T-shirt with no designs on it
• Acrylic paint or fabric paint and a surface to put them on (paper plate works well)
• Paint brush and cup of water to rinse it in, along with a piece of paper towel to wipe your wet brush on
• Newspaper or scrap paper to protect your work surface
• Apron, smock or t-shirt that you don't mind getting dirty

There are two parts to this project so we've created two videos. Enjoy!

Create your own wooden name blocks

Creative Girly is back to show you another fun crafting idea. Your own personalized wooden name blocks!

She was so excited to get such positive feedback yesterday from those of you that checked out her new site. We'd love to have you pass the word around and let people know that she's here.
