Wedding Invitations

I recently made wedding invitations for a friend that's getting married next month. I made 260 of these, along with matching response cards. I've done invitations in the past, but nothing amounting to that big of a number!

I think that out of all the invitations I have designed, this desgin was, by far, my favorite. I really like invitations that show the personality of the couple getting married. I like something different.......a change from the usual printed and plain wedding invitations that you find in bridal shop invitation catalogs. (Which is another reason that I like to see something other than the standard bride and groom figurine on wedding cakes......something that reflects the couple.)

Gloria and Chad are very "metro" and "urban." I wanted something that would scream their personality for their invitations. They had gorgeous engagement photos taken and one of them really popped out at me. It was done in black and white.

The invitation is on a base of Real Red cardstock (Stampin' Up! brand). We had the picture sized down so that it would fit the script for the invitation and then had it printed it in gray-scale so it wouldn't be as bold. I cut it down so that it left a nice red border around the picture. I printed the script for the invitation in black and white on vellum paper (Stampin' Up! brand) and then secured that on top of the black and white picture by punching two holes at the top with a rectangle punch (Stampin' Up! brand) and then threading a piece of black grossgrain ribbon (Stampin' Up! brand) through them to make a "fauw bow," which lies flat. I trimmed the edges of the ribbon on an angle for a finished look. You can lift up the vellum to see the picture without the printing on top of it.

I made small response cards (sample not shown) using Real Red cardstock and printing 6 to a page. Gloria wanted response cards that didn't need to be mailed back so they included phone numbers, a website address and an email address for people to RSVP at, as well as the website for their registries. I printed them with the same script that I used on the invitation and stamped them in the corner with the outline rose stamp from the Simple Sketches stamp set (Stampin' UP!).
