Scrapbook Page: 1st Tiger Lilly of Spring - Using GinaK Stamps
Who knew that I would find a way to use a tiger lilly stamp on a page about my son? Then again, it helps when you have a son as excited about spotting the first tiger lillies of the season as I do!
Yes, yes, yes.....I know I've used this fantastic Year of Flowers set (from GinaK Designs) on many of my scrapbook pages, but in my defense, I haven't gotten a chance to use the tiger lilly stamp set, yet, so technically, you haven't seen me use this image at all on my pages or my blog.
The more I use this set, the more and more I find he versatility in it. Especially with scrapbooking. When I took these pictures of Zach this past spring, I had no clue how I was going to scrapbook them and held onto the pictures until I found some inspiration and the right embellishments to use with them. Again and again, I pull out this set and find the perfect images for what I'm working with. I am SO happy with how this page turned out and that the tiger lillies were perfect for my subject!
I used a piece of textured cardstock from Bazzill Basics and swiped around the edges with a Mellow Moss craft pad. I double matted the 5 x7 inch photo and made my bottom mat a bit longer so that I could wrap a piece of brown/green/white ribbon around it. The bottom photo is matted on just one color of cardstock and was cut using my Coluzzle cutting system. It's been a while since I've cut a photo into a circle or any other shape, for that matter. It was fun to do something a little different and highlight the flower picture this way.
I stamped the tiger lilly images on a piece of More Mustard cardstock with Versmark ink and embossed them with black embossing powder. I cut them out and then gave them some shading with a pink Copic marker. I used some textured dark green cardstock for the stems (which were hand cut and then outlined with a fine point black marker) and I embossed the leaves on the green cardstock with the black powder. I gave those some shading with a dark green Copic marker, as well.
The title was done with Making Memories foam stamps for the "1st" and I embossed those with black powder. I hand wrote the rest of the title with a Versa-Marker and embossed it with black powder. The journaling was done with a fine point black marker.
The more I use my stamps in my scrapbook, the more I enjoy the process and almost can't imagine scrapbooking without them. It's such a great way to utilize your stamps and the best part about them is that you can use them over and over again. You'll never run out of them! Especially when it comes to alphabets and letters!
Happy Creating!
