Today is Day 3 of GinaK's new release preview! If you haven't checked out the last couple of days of previews, then make sure you hop on over to her blog to see what her amazing design team (and guest designers) have done the last couple of days with the 4 new sets that are debuting at the release party that's happening on Thursday night (7/24) over at the GinaK Forum on SCS. It'll be happening from 7-10 pm Central time. Lots of fun challenges (I'll be hosting one again this month), fun chatter, new friends and sneak peeks!
This card is made with the new Summer Harvest stamp set (it'll be available for purchase Thurs. night) and the new Koh-i-noor pencils that I am head over heels about. This set is so much fun to color in with these pencils and then blend with the blending stumps and Odorless Mineral Spirits. At first I was a little concerned that I would find colors to work with that would go well with the color of cardstock and patterned papers I was working with, but I think it turned out really well and that the colors look wonderful together.
I inked up my Wild Wasabi cardstock around the edges (directly with the ink pad) with the same color ink. I like a bit of a distressed look. I used some scraps of patterned paper (from the discontinued Afternoon Tea pack from SU) and mounted one of the pieces with some Soft Sky cardstock.
I adhered a piece of sheer vanilla organdy ribbon around the bottom of the guava colored paper (love those subtle butterflies in the background) and then punched gold mini brads through it. It seemed like something was visually missing and that side of the card wasn't balance out so the brads were JUST enough, but not TOO much, to balance it out.
I colored around the inside edge of my strawberry image with the Koh-i-noor pencils an then blended them with the blending stumps and Odorless Mineral Spirits. I wanted a little bit of morning dew sort of shine to the berries so I dabbed a little bit of 2-Way glue to the berries and the sprinkled on some Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Hey, I've been having Dazzling Diamonds glitter withdrawal as many of the things I've created lately haven't had any on them and I HAD to find a way to use it somehow!
The greeting for this card is also from the new Summer Harvest stamp set. This set has 6 very versatile greetings that can be used on every-day cards (along with 3 stunning garden harvest images).
Make sure to check out Gina's blog to see what she's created with this new set, along with a list of the design team members who also created projects with this set.
Happy Creating!
