You all know what a big fan I am of the outdoors. I love earth tones, muted colors, organic designs....anything to do with nature. When GinaK brought Asela Hopkins onto her team of illustrators, I knew I would be in for a real treat. Asela has an amazing knack for creating images that speak to my inner tree-hugger!
The new Flowers for Daisy set is Asela's newest creation. For a limited time, a portion of the sales of this stamp set will be donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of Asela Hopkins' friend, Daisy, who is fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
The sprig of leaves in this set work to make a great masculine card. I don't know about you, but I know that my stamp collection is full of stamps for making feminine cards and projects, along with cards & gifts for kids, but it's kind of short on the images for the guys in my life. It's always nice to find a set that not only has images for all the women I give cards to, but also that has images I can use for guys.
For this card, I used the Faux silk technique. I love the texture that this technique creates. To stay simple and not take away from the beautiful leaves, I chose to use only two colors (other than the Whisper White). I used Certainly Celery and Close to Cocoa. Both are colors pulled from nature but they have a really classic and warm look to them.
I used a piece of Chocolate Chip poly-twill ribbon to tie it all together. I mounted the greeting (also from the Flowers for Daisy set) with pop-dots for extra dimension.
This card is also the card that I used at GinaK's release party last week for the sketch challenge. It's a super easy sketch and just wait till you see what all the sketch players created with it! You can check all of those out here ---> July Sketch Challenge photos
Even though the challenge is over, you can still use the sketch to make your own cards to give to friends and family. You can check out the sketch here ---> July card sketch
If you haven't entered my Groovy Give-Away, you still have time! I'm picking the winner tomorrow! Click here to check out the prizes and instructions for entering ---> Big Groovy Give-Away!
Happy Creating!
