My daughter was recently playing at my craft desk, wanting to create and wanting to use some little buttons that I've been hoarding for some time now.
When she picked out a stamp set to use in my bins, she chose the Birthday Cupcake set from Kitchen Sink Stamps. When she made her card, she glued buttons to the bottom of the cupcake but it started the wheels in my head to turning.
I LOVE sprinkles on cupcakes and these teeny tiny buttons seemed like they would be perfect as confetti-type sprinkles!
I stamped the cupcake image on a piece of Brilliant Blue cardstock and then cut the bottom part out. I stamped the cupcake again on a piece of Whisper White with Real Red ink and then adhered the bottom of the cupcake on top. I got wise to that from the last card I did HERE. It was MUCH easier than cutting out the top AND the bottom. :)
You all know how much I love my Dazzling Diamonds glitter, so the entire top of the cupcake got coated in it. I then use mini glue dots to adhere the mini buttons. I had to PRESS DOWN HARD on the buttons so that they would adhere well because I was pressing them onto glitter. They didn't want to stick at first, but after pressing hard enough, they were good to go.
I don't often use Brilliant Blue much, but I was working on another project using the red, blue and white color combo and decided to give it a try for this card. The buttons were the perfect color for it.
Have a wonderful New Year everyone! Can't wait to share with you what I have in store for 2008!! Be on the lookout for an amazing announcement sometime this week!
