Heated Pearls....
To follow up the post below this one, here's one of the projects we created at the July Class, with instructions under the picture. Click on the picture for a larger view.
This card was created using the Heated Pearls Technique (the strip of textured blue and green on the left side of the card).
Heated Pearls is A LOT of fun! I did it for a swap for last year's cruise to the Western Caribbean and I think I smelled too much heated glue....that kept me away from this technique for over a year. Now that my brain cells have regenerated themselves, I was up to the challenge again.
I found a great layout using another set over at SplitCoastStampers and used the layout concept that Amy05 created. She has another cool Heated Pearls Sample using the same set as her first sample....the VERY awesome Nature Prints set from the Stampin' UP Summer Mini Catalog.
Heated Pearls is a very simple and easy technique to execute. There are a few different ways to do this technique, but for this particular card, here's what I did:
1) Mix together regular school glue and Turquiose Pearl Ex.
2) Use a paintbrush to spread the Turquoise colored glue onto a piece of cardstock (I used Whisper White for this card).
3) Sprinkle Spring Green Pearl Ex in random places on top of the Turquoise colored glue.
4) Use a heat tool (embossing gun) to heat the glue. Don't worry about the bubbles....that's supposed to happen.
5) Once the glue stops bubbling, your Heated Pearls are done.
Here's another variations of this technique over at SplitCoastStampers Tutorials done by Beate Johns.
(Supplies for my card: Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery, Basic Black and Whisper White cardstocks, Stampin' Write markers, Basic Black and Certainly Celery inks, Fishy Friends and Sincere Salutations sets, school glue, Spring Green and Turquoise Pearl Ex, heat tool.)

That is very cool. I have all of the supplies, I think, I'm going to have to make a few of these.
I have yet to join the discussion at split coast stampers or even look around very much. I know this is the time as since I am away from anyone who stamps, I need some inspiration and somewhere to chat about it!

I finally got you on SCS. Yay, me! ;)

You're too funny, Nicole. I have found myself over at SCS every now and then to get ideas and samples, but other than that.....I really don't spend a whole lot of time over there than I did before. My kids have to hunt for my own food if I do.;)

Tsoniki- you'll have to post a picture of your project if you try out the Heated Pearls. I'd LOVE to see it!
I haven't joined any of the discussions over at SCS, mostly because I don't have the time....I'm kept so busy doing a ton of other things. But it IS great for finding samples when I need them, and I've just started looking at some of the tutorials....great stuff!

I went to try this today - only to realize that I only have embossing powder, no pearl ex! I tried it anyway LOL and wow, it turned out bad. Nothing like your pretty card. So I am going to get some pearl ex and try again!
