I've finished another hand-stitched felt belt and this time, I've used a deep wool-blend red felt with celery colored leaves and vines and a dark chocolate brown for the blanket stitch around the edges. (you can find this belt on my Etsy Shop.) I'm fast finding that making belts is one of my favorite felt items to hand-stitch. There's just something about the repetition in the stitches and designs stretched across a long length of felt. The precision that I strive for in each stitch.....it just relaxes me and makes me happy.
So far, I've only made girls sized belts but when I can get my hands on a lengthy piece of felt, I'm going to try my hand at some adult sized belts. While these belts do take hours and hours of work, I find peace in each stitch.
Sometimes I watch a movie or a TV show while I'm stitching. Sometimes I take my work with me to the doctor's office. Sometimes I take it with me when we're in the van as a family and my hubby is driving (definitely NOT while I'm driving *wink*). Sometimes I sit and stitch when everything in the house is quiet and I give myself time to think about anything and everything. Other times, I sit on the couch with the hubby's feet up on my legs, while the logs in the fireplace crack and pop and the kids are asleep in their beds and we finally get the chance to talk with each other without any interruptions.
